History
Senzoku Hachiman Shrine, enshrined on the shores of Senzoku Pond in Ota Ward, Tokyo, was founded in 860 CE (the second year of the Jogan era). Enshrining Homuda-wake-no-Mikoto, a manifestation of the warrior deity Hachiman, it was long revered by samurai and warriors. Serving as the guardian shrine of the local community as a former village shrine, it has stood alongside the tranquil waters of Senzoku Pond throughout the centuries. Its annual festival held in September continues to draw worshippers seeking blessings for victory, success, and family prosperity.
