Enshrined in the moated village of Hiyeda in Yamato-Koriyama, this shrine is closely connected to Hiyeda no Are, who assisted in the compilation of the Kojiki. Recognized as a shikinaisha and formerly designated a prefectural shrine, it has long been revered as a kami of learning and performing arts. Storytellers and literary figures have held it in special esteem for generations. Today students and those in literary pursuits continue to visit, offering prayers in admiration of Hiyeda no Are's legendary memory and gift for recitation.
