Sanno Jinja, located in Sannocho, Toyama, is a shrine of the Hiyoshi Taisha lineage that enshrines deities such as Oyamakui no Kami. Sanno faith has deep connections with Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei, and has long been cherished in the form of syncretic Shinto-Buddhist worship. As the name 'Sanno' suggests, it has a strong character as a mountain deity, and has gathered the faith of farmers wishing for regional peace and abundant harvests. It is also known as a deity of protection against evil and misfortune, and continues to watch over the daily safety of local people as a reliable shrine.
