History
Kichijoji is the 63rd temple of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temples pilgrimage, located in Hyomi, Saijo City, Ehime Prefecture. Belonging to the Shingon-shu Toji-ha sect, the temple bears the mountain name Mikkyo-zan and the cloister name Taizo-in. Its principal image is Bishamon-ten, making it the only temple among the eighty-eight with Bishamon-ten as its main object of veneration. The temple is also counted as the Bishamon-ten site of the Shikoku Seven Lucky Gods pilgrimage. Pilgrims seeking Bishamon-ten blessings of good fortune, health, and prosperity have visited this sacred hall for centuries.
