History
Ikuta Jinja, enshrined in central Kobe, is an ancient shrine boasting a history of more than 1,800 years. According to tradition, Empress Jingū received a divine message at this location on her return from the conquest of the Three Korean Kingdoms and established the worship of Waka-Hirume-no-Mikoto. The place name "Kobe" itself derives from "kanbe" (sacred precinct) of Ikuta Jinja, showing how deeply connected this shrine is to the area. Renowned nationwide as a deity of good relationships and romantic ties, many couples visit to pray for good fortune in love. It is truly the spiritual pillar of Kobe, watching over the city.
