Ichijoji in Kasai is an ancient Tendai Buddhist temple said to have been founded by the sage Hodō. It is renowned for its National Treasure three-story pagoda, a precious cultural asset that conveys the elegant architectural beauty of the late Heian period to the present day. Located on the slopes of Hakuun Mountain, the temple grounds are rich in natural beauty, with the spring cherry blossoms and autumn foliage being particularly spectacular. Long cherished as a temple of learning, it offers a tranquil environment for visitors to calm their minds in prayer, and stands as one of the foremost sacred sites representing the Harima region. Set in an austere atmosphere woven together by history and nature, surely one's heart will be purified here.
