History

Byakko

Norazu Mori Shrine, also known as Sanno-sama, stands in Satoucho, Anjo City, Aichi Prefecture, as an ancient sacred woodland sanctuary. Once holding the status of a village shrine under the old shrine ranking system, it is now designated a fifth-grade shrine by the Aichi Prefecture Shrine Association. Its name means the forest one may not ride into, deriving from an ancient prohibition against entering this holy ground on horseback. The grounds maintain a deep stillness earned through centuries of protecting local communities. The shrine continues to serve as a spiritual anchor for the region.
