History
Nakono Jinja is enshrined in the central part of Nagoya Castle town and is a venerable shrine from which the place name of Nagoya is derived. This area has long been called "Nakono" and prospered as the center of Owari. When Tokugawa Ieyasu built Nagoya Castle, this shrine was carefully protected. Even as urbanization progressed, it has been cherished as a spiritual support for the people of Nagoya and as a guardian deity of the commercial city. In modern times, many businesspeople and local residents visit to worship, making it a vibrant shrine.
