History
Akiba Jinja, enshrined in Akiba-cho, is known as a shrine dedicated to Kagutsotsuchi, the god of fire. Since ancient times, it has gathered the deep faith of merchants and craftspeople as a god of fire prevention. Particularly after the Edo period, in Toyama's castle town where townhouses were densely packed, fire was the most feared disaster. Thus, visits to Akiba Jinja became indispensable, and even now many people visit to pray for fire safety. It is a spiritually efficacious shrine that receives the divided spirit from Akiba Mountain in Shizuoka.
