History
Taga Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined in the hot spring area of Shirahama, where it honors the divine couple Izanagi no Mikoto and Izanami no Mikoto. These two deities are revered as the gods of creation who gave birth to the lands of Japan and many other deities. The shrine grounds, overlooking Shirahama's beautiful coastline, have become a place of repose for hot spring visitors and local people alike, and many worshippers visit, particularly seeking the blessings of marital harmony and romantic connections. It is a special place where one can receive the benefits of hot springs along with the protection of the deities.
