History
Awa Jinja is an ancient shrine located in Awamiya, Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture. Registered as a shikinaisha (a shrine listed in the Engishiki) of the small grade and formerly ranked as a gosha, it has long been venerated as a guardian deity of this land. The name Awa derives from an old place name, reflecting the shrine's deep roots alongside the lives of the local people. Farmers and merchants alike have long visited this shrine to pray for abundant harvests, family safety, and business prosperity. Stepping inside the grounds, the noise of daily life fades into stillness and tranquility.
