Awa Jinja

Awa Jinja is an ancient shrine located in Awamiya, Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture. Registered as a shikinaisha (a shrine listed in the Engishiki) of the small grade and formerly ranked as a gosha, it has long been venerated as a guardian deity of this land. The name Awa derives from an old place name, reflecting the shrine's deep roots alongside the lives of the local people.
