Ogushi Jinja is a historic shrine standing in Koshiba-cho, Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka. The unusual name "Ogushi" is said to derive from a comb used to comb beautiful hair, and since ancient times it has been believed to bring blessings for women's beauty and matchmaking. Having walked alongside the development of the port town of Shimizu, this shrine has also been cherished by people praying for maritime safety and business prosperity. A sense of tranquility pervades the grounds, possessing a mysterious power that purifies the hearts of visitors. As the guardian deity of the local community, the torch of faith passed down through generations continues to burn brightly even today.
