History
Shoin Jinja is a shrine dedicated to Yoshida Shoin, the great educator of the late Edo period. The spirit of Shoin, who educated many patriots at the Shokasonjuku private academy and laid the foundation for the Meiji Restoration, eternally dwells here. Enshrined in Tsubakihigashi, Hagi, this shrine welcomes visitors from across the nation—scholars and those in education—seeking to advance their studies. Shoin's teachings of "sincerity" continue to guide many hearts and kindle the passion for learning. It is truly worthy of being called a sacred place of learning.
