Chōsenji is a temple of the Shingon Buzan sect located in Kōenji Minami, Suginami, Tokyo. Founded in 1704 (Hōei 1) by the monk Shinshu, the temple enshrines Fudō Myōō as its principal deity under the mountain name Nichiozan. A wooden standing statue of Fudō Myōō, designated as a Suginami Ward Cultural Property, is venerated here. Adjacent to Kōenji temple of the Sōtō sect—the namesake of the Kōenji neighborhood—Chōsenji has long served as a center of faith in this historically rich temple district.
