Okigū is an ancient shrine enshrined on Okuyama in Naha, gathering deep faith as the sea deity of Okinawa. True to its name, it has a long history of protecting the safety of fishermen and sailors as the god who rules over the "offshore" seas. True to Okinawa's character surrounded by beautiful seas, the shrine grounds where one can offer prayers while feeling the sea breeze purify the hearts of all who visit. The deep faith of people grateful for the sea's blessings and praying for safe voyages continues to be passed down even now.
