History
Tōrinjī is an ancient temple continuing from old times on Ishigaki Island, a sacred site of tranquility surrounded by the rich natural beauty of the subtropics. Within the scenic landscape of Yaeyama, it has long been cherished as a spiritual support for the local people. In the temple grounds adorned with subtropical flowers, one can experience a unique tranquility and peace not found in the mainland. It continues to quietly watch over the history and culture of Ishigaki Island, loved as an important place of prayer woven into the daily lives of the islanders.
