History

Byakko

An ancient shrine dedicated to Otsuka in Toshima Ward. It enshrines Amaterasu Oomikami and has long served as the tutelary deity of this region. During the Edo period, this area was pastoral farmland, and it was an important place where agricultural workers prayed for abundant harvests. While experiencing the waves of urbanization since the Meiji period, it has been carefully preserved as a spiritual support for the community. Today, surrounded by residential neighborhoods, its quiet temple grounds bring peace to visitors. Local traditional festivals are continued and the shrine remains cherished across generations.
