Hamamiya Tenmansha is a Tenmangu shrine in Kakogawa City, Hyogo Prefecture, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning. According to shrine records, it was founded in 938 CE. Tradition holds that Michizane rested at this site on his way to exile in Dazaifu, inspiring the founding of the shrine. Historically revered for safe travel and fishing, it also received patronage from the lords of Himeji domain. Today it serves as the local guardian shrine, drawing many students to pray for academic success.
