History
Kataoka Jinja is a shrine of deep significance known for its connection to Prince Shotoku. Situated at the foot of Kataoka Mountain, famous for the legend of the starving man, the compassionate tale of the prince giving his own robes to a hungry person continues to be passed down to this day. Located in the center of Oji-cho, it has long been cherished as the guardian deity of the region. Like inheriting the compassionate heart of Prince Shotoku, this shrine welcomes visitors warmly, and its precincts are enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere.
