History
Gokoku Jinja stands in Nara and is a shrine enshrining the honored spirits of those who gave their lives for their homeland. The spirits of those from Nara Prefecture who died in wars since the Meiji Period are enshrined, and this sacred shrine is infused with prayers for peace. During spring and autumn grand festivals, many bereaved families and local residents visit to offer gratitude to the honored spirits and prayers for peace. It is also an important place that conveys the memory of war to future generations and teaches the value of peace. When one clasps their hands in the quiet sacred grounds, one's thoughts of peace deepen all the more.
