Hotagae Jinja is a shrine enshrined in Sakai, renowned for protection against directional misfortunes. Since ancient times, it has been revered as a deity that wards off calamities associated with directions, and visitors seeking protection before moving or traveling are constant. This shrine of distinguished lineage was visited by nobility during the Heian period for directional purification.
