History

Byakko

Tanashiro Jinja is an ancient shrine said to have been founded during the Kenkyuu era and is a rare shrine that enshrines Dragon deities as its principal kami. It enshrines five dragon deities based on five-element philosophy, each represented by different colors, which is a distinctive feature. During the Edo period, it flourished as the tutelary shrine of Tanashiro Village and particularly gathered the faith of farmers as a deity of rain prayers. In modern times, many worshippers visit seeking the blessings of the five-colored dragon deities, and it has become popular as a power spot.
