This Sugiyama Jinja is a historic shrine that has gathered the faith of people in this land since ancient times. Although the exact year of its founding is uncertain, there is a legend that Minamoto no Yoritomo visited to pray for victory in battle. Therefore, it is said to bring blessings for lasting military fortune and good luck and warding off evil. Several ancient trees hundreds of years old stand tall within the precincts, creating a mystical atmosphere. In particular, the giant cedar tree behind the shrine building is revered as a sacred tree. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom beautifully, making it a place of relaxation for many worshippers and local residents. It can be said to be an important presence that has walked alongside the development of the region and has been close to the lives of the people.
