History

In Tanabe, a town famous for Kumano pilgrimage, stands this ancient shrine I have visited many times. Sumiyoshi Ōkami commands the boundary between sea and land, watching over travelers and merchants alike. For generations, the people here have honored this deity and lived in peace and plenty under divine protection.
