Koyasu Jinja, located in the heart of Hachioji, has long been revered as a shrine dedicated to safe childbirth and child-rearing, as its name suggests. It is said to have been founded in the Heian period and enshrines Konohanasakuya-hime. During the Sengoku period, it received the reverence of the Hojo clan, and in the Edo period, it became the guardian deity of Hachioji, which flourished as a post town on the Koshu Highway. Particularly known as a guardian deity for women, visitors from far and wide come to pray for safe childbirth and the healthy growth of their children. Within the shrine grounds is a sacred stone said to bring fertility to those wishing for children, and many couples visit to make their wishes. It is a shrine beloved by local people, with a warm atmosphere.
