Byakko

Chikato Jinja is enshrined in Tokutsuro-cho, Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. According to tradition, it was founded in 778 (Hoki 9) by inviting the deity of Nikko Futarasan Shrine. The shrine name derives from Chikatsunomori, the ancient name of the location. Its former rank was gosha. The principal deity is Okuninushi no Mikoto, enshrined together with Tagirihime no Mikoto and Ajisukitakahikone no Mikoto. During the Edo period, the Tokugawa clan venerated the shrine and donated five koku of land. It is known for blessings of abundant harvests, family safety, and good health.
