History

Byakko

Suga Jinja is a historic shrine established in the early Edo period, enshrining Susanoo no Mikoto and Inada Hime no Mikoto as its principal deities, serving as a kami of matchmaking. Originally founded as an Inari shrine, it later became Suga Jinja. In recent years, it has become popular with young worshippers as a sacred site featured in the film "Your Name." The annual festival in June features a portable shrine procession through the neighborhood, serving as an important community event that deepens local bonds. Though small in scale, the shrine offers a peaceful refuge where visitors can forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
