Byakko

Daihoji is a temple of the Shingon-shu Buzan-ha sect located in Kumakogen-cho, Kamiukena District, Ehime Prefecture. Its mountain name is Sugouzan, and its cloister name is Daikakuin. The principal image is an Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva. It is the 44th temple of the Shikoku 88-Temple Pilgrimage and is known as the "Naka-Fudasho" (central sacred site). Situated at an elevation of 579 meters in the Kumakogen highlands, the temple is enveloped in the rich nature of the surrounding mountains and continues to receive pilgrims in an atmosphere of stillness and solemnity. The honzon mantra is: om maka kyaronikyasowaka.
