Taihou-ji is an ancient temple located deep in the mountains of the Shikoku mountain range, with a long history as a mountain ascetic training site. True to its name, this temple, which guards the great treasure of Buddhist teachings, flourished as a training hall for mountain ascetics. Surrounded by the abundant nature of Kumakogen, this temple is filled with a silence and spiritual energy not found in urban areas. From its high elevation, it serves as a place to purify body and mind and cultivate one's spirit, remaining known today as a sacred training ground visited by many faithful practitioners.
