History

Byakko

Aki Shrine is located in Ouda Hasama, Uda City, Nara Prefecture, and is listed in the Engishiki Jimmeicho, confirming its ancient status as a shikinaisha. Its former social rank was Ken-sha (prefectural shrine), and it is commonly known as Kando Myojin. The principal deities are Okuninushi-no-Mikoto (Onamuchi), the great deity of nation-building, and Sukunabikona-no-Mikoto, the deity of medicine and sake brewing. Together they represent blessings tied to industry, health, and daily life. The Uda region has ancient connections to Emperor Jimmu's eastern expedition, placing the shrine within a historically significant landscape. During the Edo period, it received patronage from the lords of Uda Matsuyama Domain. Its autumn grand festival continues to draw many visitors today.
