History

Byakko

Inarizan Genchouji is a Jodo sect Buddhist temple in Senju, Adachi Ward, Tokyo. Founded in 1610 (Keicho 15) with Ina Tadatsugu as patron and Enen Fuzan as the founding priest, its principal image is Amida Nyorai. Located at the heart of the Senju post town on the old Nikko Road, it has long served as an important center of faith for the community. The temple enshrines Benzaiten, one of the Senju Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods), attracting many worshippers. A bell once rang out the hours for the people of Senju, and while the bell tower remains, the bell itself is gone.
