History

Byakko

Uta Mizuwaketari Jinja stands in the mountains of Uda and enshrines the deity who governs water. "Mizuwake" means the distribution of water, and as a deity granting the blessings of water essential to agriculture, it has long received devoted faith from the people of this region. Protecting the water sources that nourish the rice paddies and fields of this area and bringing abundant harvests, this deity is especially treasured by farmers. The sacred grounds, surrounded by pure mountain water, are a sacred space where one can deeply feel gratitude for nature's blessings.
