History
A hall of education located at the foot of Koyasan, the sacred site of Shingon Buddhism founded by Kobo Daishi Kukai. As Koyasan developed as a religious city, it played an important role as one of the bases for welcoming many believers and pilgrims. Koyasan has prospered since the Heian period as the fundamental training ground of Shingon esoteric Buddhism, a spiritual place where numerous monks practiced.
