History
Sukegawa Kashima Jinja is a shrine dedicated to martial deities located in Sukegawa, Hitachi. It enshrines Takemikazuchi-no-Okami and has long been revered as a deity of martial fortune and victory in contests. True to the name "Sukegawa" (助川, literally "helping river"), the deity is cherished as one who aids people and rescues them from hardship.
