History

Byakko

Kaneiji Kiyomizu Kannon-do, standing on Ueno Hill, is a venerable hall built in imitation of Kyoto's Kiyomizu Temple. As part of Kaneiji, the temple where the Tokugawa family is enshrined, it has gathered the faith of many people since the Edo period. The main deity is Senju Kannon Bosatsu, and it is particularly known for its benefits in granting children and safe childbirth. From its stage-style main hall, one can overlook Shinobazu Pond, and it is a sacred place where one can pray with a quiet heart along with the changing of the seasons.
