History
Ekokuin is one of the shukubo temple lodges on Koyasan, an ancient temple of the Shingon Buddhist tradition inheriting the teachings of Kobo Daishi Kukai. It welcomes many pilgrims and practitioners, providing accommodation and practice spaces on Koyasan. True to its name meaning "light of compassion," it is cherished as a temple that illuminates and guides people with the merciful light of the Buddha. Through vegetarian Buddhist cuisine and morning devotions, visitors can spend sacred time removed from daily life.
