Ryugan-ji (Hagi-ji)

Ryuganji (Hagi-dera) is a Tendai Buddhist temple in Koto, Tokyo, founded in 1574. Established by head priest Sogan Zonko and sponsored by Yanagisawa Nobumichi, a village headman who served the Gohojo clan. Originally a Shingon temple, it later converted to Tendai. The principal image is the Eleven-faced Kannon. During the Edo period, hundreds of bush clover plants made it famous as the Temple of Bush Clover, depicted in Hiroshige's woodblock print series One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.
