Hikawa Shrine, also known as Okawamachi Hikawa Shrine, is located in Senju Okawamachi, Adachi Ward, Tokyo. The enshrined deities are Susanoo-no-Mikoto and Kuginomitama-no-Mikoto. Founded in Einin 2 (1294) according to tradition, the shrine has a history spanning over 700 years. Prior to the modification of the Arakawa River, the shrine stood closer to the riverbank before being relocated to its current site as part of flood control works. Senju Okawamachi flourished as a hub of river transport, and the shrine received many prayers for the safety of boats and prosperity in trade. The shrine is also one of the Senju Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods) sites, enshrining Hotei, and continues to welcome pilgrims on the seven-deity circuit.
