Located within the sacred precinct of Yamatesaki, it exudes a unique atmosphere where Buddhism and Shinto coexist harmoniously. Positioned along the pilgrimage route to Yamamurasaki-ji, it has long drawn pilgrims and worshippers who pray for mountain safety and safe passage. Matsuo Basho visited this place during his journey documented in 'Oku no Hosomichi,' testament to its historical depth. Today, many who visit Yamatesaki find spiritual purification at this shrine and pay respects to the deities of this sacred mountain.
