History

Byakko

Nyoirin-ji is a temple of the Shingon sect Chisan school, located in Izumicho, Nishitokyo City, Tokyo. The principal object of veneration is Nyoirin Kannon. The exact date of its founding is unknown, though the temple is believed to have existed since the early Edo period. The precincts hold numerous stone lanterns and Buddhist statues accumulated over generations of local devotion. A large votive tablet depicting a horse market, designated as a cultural property by Nishitokyo City, survives as a reminder of the lively festivals once held here.
