Ichimiya Kameoka Hachimangu is a venerable Hachimangu shrine situated in Ichiyaya, Shinjuku Ward. As its name Kameoka suggests, it is cherished as a spiritually efficacious shrine symbolizing longevity and stability like the tortoise. Situated on the Ichigaya plateau, it has a long history of deep reverence among samurai and townspeople since the Edo period. Through the virtues of Hachiman Kami, it is said to be particularly effective for victory in contests and warding off calamities. Even today, many worshippers visit this shrine.
