History
Washiko Sanjo Jinja is a remarkable shrine situated at the summit of Washiko Mountain on the border between Tochigi and Ibaraki prefectures. True to its name, it has long been venerated as the mountain where eagles soar and dance. Due to its mountaintop location, it continues to watch over people while offering far-reaching vistas. Being positioned on the prefectural border, it is beloved by people from both prefectures and is known as a sacred site of mountain worship.
