Koheiiji is a mountain esoteric Buddhist temple located in Shimono, Kaocho, Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture. The principal image is a Thousand-Armed Kannon (Senju Kannon), designated as an Important Cultural Property of Kumamoto Prefecture. The temple is an unoccupied temple managed by the Shimono Koheiiji Management Association, preserved and maintained by local community members. While detailed records of its founding are scarce, it has long served as a center of mountain esoteric Buddhist faith in the region. The compassionate power of the Thousand-Armed Kannon continues to welcome visitors today.
