Hyotanyama Inari Jinja

Hyotanyama Inari Jinja is located in Higashiosaka, Osaka Prefecture. It is counted among the three great Inari shrines of Japan (though various traditions exist) and is widely known as the general headquarters of tsujiura divination. The shrine sits atop an ancient burial mound shaped like a gourd (hyotan), from which it takes its name. Since ancient times it has gathered the faith of many people as a deity of business prosperity and good fortune. The vermilion torii-lined approach retains a deeply atmospheric quality, conveying the enduring power of Inari faith.
