History
Iwafune Jinja is enshrined in Ippon-cho, Ikoma City, and as its name suggests, it is a shrine connected to the mystical "Iwafune" (stone ship). Since ancient times, large rocks and strange rock formations have been regarded as sacred places where gods dwell, and this shrine continues that tradition of nature worship. Situated amid the rich nature of the Ikoma mountain range, it has long been revered as the deity of mountains and rocks by local people. In particular, it is said to provide benefits for safe travel and traffic safety, and even today many people visit to pray. It is a special shrine where one can feel the mystical power of sacred rocks.
