History

Byakko

Kada Kasuga Jinja is enshrined in Kada, Wakayama City, and held the old rank of mura-sha (village shrine). While no clear founding records survive, it has long served as a place of faith deeply rooted in the Kada community. The principal deities are the same four enshrined at Kasuga Grand Shrine in Nara: Takemikazuchi no Mikoto, Futsunushi no Mikoto, Amenokoyane no Mikoto, and Himegami. Kada was historically known as a fishing town and a key point on Osaka Bay, making this shrine a revered place for praying for safe voyages and abundant catches. Kasuga faith was transmitted here from Yamato, and seasonal festivals continue to be held to this day.
