History

Byakko

Jinmokuji is an ancient temple said to have been founded during the reign of Empress Suiko. Its founding is attributed to a fisherman named Jinmoku Tatsumaro, and there is a remarkable origin story: the temple began when a statue of Kannon was caught in his fishing nets and pulled from the sea. With the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva as its principal object of worship, it has long been known as 'Jinmokuji Kannon' and has gathered the faith of the region. Particularly in the Owari region, it has received deep devotion, with many visitors coming to seek peace of mind and fulfillment of their wishes. Historic buildings remain in the temple grounds.
