History
Shakuji Hikawa Jinja is located in a quiet residential area near Shakuji Park in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. The shrine is traditionally said to have been founded during the Oei era (1394-1428) of the Muromachi period, and as part of the Hikawa faith tradition of Musashi Province, it has long been cherished by the local community. Surrounded by the rich natural environment of Shakuji Pond, it has been revered since ancient times as a deity governing blessings of water and greenery. Today it continues to serve as the tutelary shrine of Nerima residents, welcoming visitors who pray for family safety and good health.
