History
Hatsusan Yamaguchizai Jinja is an ancient shrine dedicated to the mountain-entrance deity that protects the Hase area. Hase is renowned as the sacred site of Hase-dera, a hall of the Kannon Bodhisattva, and this shrine has long watched over many pilgrims visiting the area. As indicated by the name "Yamaguchi-zai," it has served to protect the entrance to the mountain and ensure the safety of travelers and pilgrims. Watching over the pilgrimage route to Hase Kannon, this shrine has been cherished not only by local residents but also by pilgrims from distant lands as a guardian ensuring peace of mind and safe passage.
