History

Komadomehachiman Shrine is located in Kamuma, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, and is traditionally said to have been founded in 1308 (the third year of Tokuji). Selected as one of the Setagaya Hundred Landscapes, the shrine is associated with a poignant legend involving Tokiwa-hime, a consort of Yoshira Yoriyasu, lord of Setagaya Castle. Wakamiya Hachiman enshrined in the inner sanctuary and Itsukushima Shrine within the precinct grounds are said to be connected to this tragic tale. Under the divine protection of the Hachiman deity, the shrine continues to draw many visitors seeking blessings for victory and good fortune.
