History
Hiraoka Jinja is a shrine of distinguished status enshrined at the foot of Mount Ikoma as the First Shrine of Kawachi Province, enshrining Amagatori-yakone no Mikoto. It is also said to be the original shrine of Kasuga Taisha, with a history reaching back before the Nara period. The autumn festival "Danjiri Matsuri" is renowned for its magnificence, and the sight of danjiri floats rushing up steep slopes is truly impressive. The faith in it as a deity of learning is deep and devoted; during examination season, many students visit to pray for success, making it a shrine filled with both historical significance and vitality.
